I am so excited to be able to host this College Success Workshop on Sunday June 27th from 2-4pm right here on Sint Maarten! This has been something I have envisioned myself doing as a way to give back to my community and I am so thankful that it is coming to life.
Who Am I? Why Am I Hosting this Workshop?
In case you are new to the blog, hello! My name is Kyeisha Laurence, a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park. I left St. Maarten in 2014 to pursue my education abroad. I studied Cellular Biology & Genetics with a minor in French Studies and graduated with straight-As, high honors and various recognitions. After achieving academic success, I wants to inspire more St. Maarten youth to do the same through mentoring, sharing resources, study tips and more. This led me to develop this workshop to share what I have learned!
What is this workshop?
In this workshop I will be sharing my story as well as giving tips and advice about how to study, strengthen your skills sets, and about personal growth in college that can benefit any student.
The topics will include "Personal Growth in College: How to Set Goals & Fighting Imposter Syndrome", "Study Tips" such as how to create exam study plans and how to use active studying, and "Networking & Finding Opportunities" where I will give tips on how to balance school work with jobs, internships, and leadership.
As the creator of the "StylebyKye Planner" (see below) - I will include a mini planner for each student who signs up for this event!
Light refreshments will be served for the in-person event.
How do I Sign Up?
Due to COVID-19 precautions, we will be having limited seats for the in-person event, however we will be live-streaming the event via zoom and recording the event.
