New Year Resolutions
Welcome to the new "Style by Kye" and to my first post of 2018! I am so excited for what this new year will bring for all of us. The new year is a great time to reflect on the past and prepare for the future. I've done my reflecting in my last post and now it's time to prepare for this upcoming year by writing my New Year's Resolutions.
I wrote my full list of resolutions in my journal a few days ago, but I decided to share some of mines with you all and encourage you to write your own.
1. Read More
One of my goals is to read more. I have loved reading since I was a little girl, but I've realized that lately I haven't been reading as much as I've wanted to, especially since starting college. I'm happy to say I've already started completing this goal, I'm on my second novel over this winter break. Want to know what I'm reading? Stay tuned for my favorite book list post coming soon!
2. Make More Friends
My next goal...make more friends! Last year I focused my energy on self-growth; I learned a lot about myself and it was truly great. But now I need to focus on meeting new people. I'm not afraid to admit that I definitely need to work on this. When I make friendships they last for years, but my flaw is that I can take a while to make those friendships. This year I'm ready to open up and start making some college besties.
3. Grow that Fro
Cheesy title I know! This year I really want to focus on my hair. I remember back in middle school my friend would ask "why doesn't your hair grow" and I used to think black hair just doesn't grow as much or as fast. But I was definitely wrong, the natural hair movement has really inspired me to focus on my hair. My hair is already fairly healthy, its natural from any perms or chemicals...but I do have some heat damage. And I realized that my hair won't grow unless I put the effort in. So this year is #noheat2018 !!
4. Less Social Media
Don't worry this doesn't mean less blogging! I plan to do more blogging and to continue to share my life. But I do want to spend less time on social media. I might be sharing less daily on snapchat, taking time to reflect, and sharing on my blog instead. I'm a naturally sharing person, it's why I started this blog, but it's good to have limits. Another goal to not end and start each day on my phone. Let's see how this goes.
5. Volunteer Work and Internships
I really want to get back to volunteering in my free time. And maybe get an internship or start shadowing a doctor. In my fall semester I wanted to stay focused on my studies without overwhelming myself too much in my first semester of college. I know I still have years ahead of me but I am eager to get in a hospital and start working towards medical school.
There it is...five of my resolutions. I hope you all will write down at least five of your own and share them in the comments if you'd like.
Hope you're enjoying the new site!
